Podcast demands Right to Laugh in Canada

Canada's Human Rights apparatus is at it again! We talk this week to Guy Earle, who committed the unpardonable sin of having a go at some hecklers at a show in Vancouver.

They were lesbians, and it turns out the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal has decreed lesbians are permanently out of season and probably a doubly protected species (they're Gay and Women!), so now Guy Earle is in the same boat as Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant.

Read more about his impending legal fight at his website. If you're in Toronto on the 19th, do be sure to support Guy Earle's fight with the anti-free-speech bureaucracy by going along to the Comics for Freedom Rally at The Comedy Bar which is at 945B Floor West.

In Blog news this week we express our support for the left wingers (I know, I know) over at Harry's Place who are getting into a legal battle with Hamas. Well done for drawing them out into the open where the rest of us can snipe that them! More about those people who are withdrawing from IslamExpo can be found here.

The use of the term Black Hole (by anyone except Stephen Hawkins we assume) is now not allowed in racially hyper aware America. More details from Michell Malkin and Five Feet of Fury.

Despite what the NYT or Fox or any other mainstream outlets might say, the latest Fauxtography scoop came from LGF. The Iranian reports of Israelis fleeing Israel (which seem to be as trustworthy as their photographs) can be found on Ynet.

This week Meryl is discussing Pat Buchanan, Doug has a few things on his mind and Evan is talking about the implications of Guy Earle's prosecution in Canada.

This week's show is hosted by former tea boy, Doug Payton. The feature interview this week is with journalist Bill Bishop, author of "The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart".  He says America is increasingly divided, not just politically, but by basic, fundamental world views.

You can find his book at Amazon: The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart .

We have blog news this week, but you'll have to listen to the show to find out what's in it!

After a long period spent doing... who knows what, Damian Penny is back with a piece on the Canadian free speech fights.

Meryl Yourish turns in a piece this week on a wide variety of subjects.

Tom Paine has his usual chat with Evan Sayet. You can find his blog here.

Podcast previews New, Improved Durban II - This time with 23.7% More Jew Hatred

edit Tom Paine, Brian of London and others 2008-06-04 11:51 UTC 2 comments  ·

Shire Network News is hosted from Virginia this week by Meryl Yourish, who does not stint on her patented juvenile scorn

The feature interview this week is with Ann Bayefsky, editor of the Eye on the UN website and Director of the Touro College Institute of Human Rights and the Holocaust.

She says the 2001 Durban Conference on Racism, which turned into an anti-semitic hatefest, is being repeated shortly in Geneva, and as happened the first time, it's been hijacked by Islamic countries, who seem bent on widening the focus to include taking away the right to free speech. The nerve of those guys! Where do they think they are? Canada?

In Blog News, Europe votes on who should be US President! Is ignored. Gets pants in bunch. Complains bitterly, cries, drinks more wine. Situation normal in other words.

Father Michael Pfleger reveals his speech at the Trinity Church in Chicago which got him and the church into so much hot water last week was a huge misunderstanding. He was under the impression he was auditioning for the lead rile in the new movie "Honkey preacher-dude be seriously TRIPPIN'!"

Christian preachers arrested on the streets of a British town for...well, for being Christian preachers. Turns out they were in one of those Mulsim "no-go" zones everyone keeps saying don't exist.

And the British Royal Marines instantaneously cave in when Malaysia complains about one of their recruiting ads. Hey Royal Marines, forget it. It's not as if Malaysia flicked your ears, stole your iPod and called you "Mr Bean". That's the Iranians. Malaysia is a totally different Muslim country for you to surrender to without firing a shot.

And Robert Mugabe has reached a new low, even by Zimbabwe's pitiful standards. His mishandling of the country is now being openly lampooned by South African radio personalities. Hey, we hear Farmer Bob is in Italy attending a UN Food conference this week (whoa, our irony meter just exploded!) Gee, where's George Monbiot when you actually need him?

Podcast Probes the Al-Durah Hoax Yet Again

edit Tom Paine, Brian of London and others 2008-05-27 16:12 UTC 2 comments  ·  ·  ·
Shire Network News is hosted from Australia this week by our Senior Managing Editor in charge of calming enraged listeners, "Tom Paine". He does not drop the F-bomb once. Not even a bleep. Not after the reaction we got to last week's, ah, change of pace.
The feature interview this week is with French media analyst Philippe Karsenty, a long-term critic of France 2, the TV channel that broadcast the famous footage of Mohammed Al-Durah, the 10 year old Palestinian shot allegedly shot dead in his father's arms by Israeli soldiers. Not only does Philippe say it was a hoax, he now has a court ruling backing him up. But he needs help to get this message past an entrenched state controlled media. If you can offer him any support, he asks that you contact him at this e-mail address: pk@m-r.fr

In Blog News this week, the Worst US President Ever (and you know which peanut farmer we mean) casually endangers the security of a democratic western nation by detailing exactly how many atomic bombs it has, so we respond with some destabilisation and panic-mongering of our own. Take that malaise-boy, two can play at THAT game.

We take a look at the savage pressure British schoolchildren are under thanks to the fiercely competitive exam system, Which on current trends will be asking tricky questions like "What colour is red" and "What is your name?" soon. Possibly with an option to phone a friend as well, but that's going to be in the next education White Paper.

Algeria has charged a woman with becoming a Christian. You know, although it's now routine to see medieval gibberish like this, we really ought to still be shocked.

And as always, the wacky antics of those wild and crazy guys at the United Nations brings a smile to the lips, a rueful shake of the head, and the loading of a fresh clip into the M16. This week, there's a terrible cyclone in Burma, and the UN sends a mystery parcel of aid. Watch the faces of the Burmese when they open it and find what's inside! Hi-jinks ensue. Followed by much suffering and death, but the UN is probably getting used to that by now.

Meryl Yourish has been watching the Eurovision Song Contest, so you don't have to. Her subsequent therapy bills will be sent to the EU headquarters in Brussels. It seems only fair.

Doug Payton has been watching the global temperature creep downwards and Arctic ice thicken thanks to...er...global warming. Maybe it's because Al Gore has been unusually quiet of late.

And Hollywood satirist and political activist Evan Sayet discusses the possibility that if Obama loses, we're in for a re-run of the worst parts of the 60s, including the emergence of a new domestic terror movement along the lines of the Weather Underground. Whose main achievement was to get three of their members blown up, but we couldn't be that lucky again, could we? Pre-order Evan's book here, if you want to avoid the hideous possibility of a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young reunion.

Podcast Hosted from the Shire

Shire Network News is so called because the man who started it, "Tom Paine" hails originally from New Zealand, which did such a great job of looking exactly like Tolkein's Shire in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.

This week's show is hosted from New Zealand by well known Kiwi blogger Murray, whose work you can find at Hitting Metal With a Hammer. And no, he is not related to Gimli. As far as we know. Gimli's just nowhere nearly as aggressive and warlike as Murray.

This week's guest is Dr Walid Phares, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies where he focuses on Middle East history and politics, global terrorist movements, democratization and human rights.

He speaks to us about the Hizbollah intimidation of the government of Lebanon, and whatever happened to the amazing disappearing Bush doctrine.

In Blog News this week, Muslim radicals show maximum respect to the fearsome UK constabulary, is Barak Obama's mysterious middle name actually "Neville", we ask why Londoners are confused as to why some guy can get stabbed to death in broad daylight in Oxford St, what length the Yorkshire Ripper's sentence ought to be (and should it be measured in years or length of rope) and Murray tells the rest of the world why they should use New Zealand as a horrible example of what happens when a government actually believes in global warming and signs Kyoto.

We have our regular chat with Evan Sayet and you can pre-order his new book on Amazon.

And Meryl Yourish is along to make fun of someone's name. But he deserves it.

This week week we conclude our chat with Prof Barry Rubin, Director, Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center and Editor, Middle East Review of International Affairs (MERIA) Journal .

As we approach the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the modern state of Israel, Barry joins us to talk about his latest reprinting of "The Israel Arab Reader". The book provides over 300 original source documents and gives a massive amount of background into the Israeli Arab struggle.

In Blog news this week we cover such delights as the BBC's new advert to remind people in Britain that they can go to jail for not paying up their Telly Tax. Biased BBC has the video.

The Wall Street Journal has more about the "Hostile" environment at Dartmouth.

Our own Meryl Yourish brought to our attention the disgrace words of Tom Levitt. You can read more here.

We have our regular chat with Evan Sayet and you can pre-order his new book on Amazon.

Meryl Yourish is talking about the reason Israel needs a strong army and air force. It's not complicated, Jews just don't think the UN is up to protecting them.

The version of Hatikva I play at the end of the show can be bought as part of the boxed set linked to here. Do consider it, the rest of the performances are terrific too.

We have been nominated for an award. Oh dear.

This week we continue a deep and meaningful discussion that ranges across the political spectrum. Douglas Murray andNickCohenjoin Tom Paine to disucuss the failures on both Left and Right to come to terms with a Jihadi threat.

On the Right we have Douglas Murray, the director of the think tank, CentreforSocial Cohesion and the author of "Neo-Conservatism:WhyWeNeed It".

From the Left, broadly speaking, as he's not on good terms with most of his former comrades just at present,isBritishjournalist Nick Cohen, author of "What's Left: How Liberals Lost their Way".

This is the second of a two part disucssion and should not be missed. They explore the failing of the left and of partsoftheright to come to terms with the real enemy everyone is facing. You can find part one here.

In blog news this week I talk about the "Free Speech in an age of Jihad" conference I attended. Atlas Shrugs has much more about it.

This week's show comes to you, not from London, and not even from our emergency backup studio in Australia. No, Shire Network News this week is hosted by Meryl Yourish in Richmond VA!

The feature interview is a continuation of the discussion from last week with retired Green Beret Lt Col Gordon Cucullu, who is worried about the increasing cultural gap between western military forces and the civillian population.

This week Meryl backs up CAMERA's catching out of the BBC in yet another blatant lie about Israel, and wonders if their public admissions about their attitudes towards Jews might have something to do with that.

The Organisation of the Islamic Conference says it's going to sue anyone who criticises Islam by suggesting they're over sensitive to criticism. Hey, we don't make this stuff up, we just report it.

Barak Obama's pastor, the one whose sermons he apparently managed not to hear for, oh, the last 20 years, has his views on race and history dissected.

Rolling Stone magazine's incisive, hard-hitting, take-no prisoners reputation for solid old-school political reportage is further enhanced with a cover showing Barak Obama wreathed in a halo of light. There was no angelic choir in the background, but I guess you're supposed to just imagine that bit.

We hear from SNN contributor Tomer Israeli in Jerusalem about what it's like living in a country where a sizable proportion of the citizens want to kill you.

Hollywood entertainer and conservative convert-from-leftism Evan Sayet comments on what it means now that playwright David Mamet has seen the light.

And for the latest Barak Obama Hopeful Change news, go watch this video on You Tube. It won't leave you unchanged. We hope.

For those of you interested in secret trials behind closed doors, it turns out you don't have to visit some third world hell-hole to find one. Mark Steyn and MacLeans magazine are trying to make a star chamber proceeding in Canada open to the press, and you can help. For details, click here.

Podcast defends culture

Our feature interview is with the author of "Culturism", John Press, who says if we don't believe we have the right to defend our own culture, then we'll lose it. Which would be bad. For everyone.

The book is available at his website and at Amazon dot com.

In this week's show, we mark the passing of William F Buckley, discuss the UK government's much-feared new anti-jihadi strategy of making terrorists sit on the naughty seat, now that Kosovo is independent, how long will California remain part of the United States, and we have excerpts from this remarkable You Tube video of a group of students watching growing increasingly incredulous as the BBC resolutely refuses to do its job and cover breaking news.

Meryl Yourish is along with a handy guide for perplexed US voters.

Hollywood conservative comedian, Evan Sayet, is along to clue us in as to why people are avoiding Tinseltown's anti-war borefests.

Congratulations also to one of our regular contributors, Damian Penny, whose blog, Daimnation, has been ranked as 8th in the list of Canada's top 25 political blogs. The "A Dime A Dozen" blog used a combination of web traffic and Alexa ranking to work out which websites are most influential. In first place was, naturally Mark Steyn , and the wonderful Kate McMillan's Small Dead Animals came in at number four.

Just behind Damian Penny in tenth place is the absolutely brilliant Kathy Shaidle with Five Feet of Fury, and all of them managed to top Canada's answer to Lionel Hutz,Warren Kinsella who limped home at number 24.

editors@shirenetworknews.net - Shire Network News - Shire Network NewsEzra Levant returns to our show for the second week and talks about how the blogosphere is the real power behind the fight back against Human Rights Commissions and other transgressions of the state. He tells us about the Union he has formed to protect bloggers from malicious legal threats.

He tells us that the left should be joining the right on these issues: it is only the "soft bigotry of low expectations" that stops the left realising the people they are silently supporting are against everything they claim to stand for.

You can follow this link to part 1 and you can find Ezra Levan't own website at ezralevant.com.

Tom also mentions Warren Kinsella and his site is linked.

Other Canadian bloggers mentioned in Ezra's interview are Kate McMillan at Small Dead Animals: http://smalldeadanimals.com/
Kathy Shaidle at Five Feet of Fury: http://www.fivefeetoffury.com/

In Blog News this week we visit Israellycool Dave with Banking on the Gullible.

The story about Bob Geldof praising George Bush and bashing the media I found on Libertas, the blog of the Liberty Film Festival.

House of Dumb provided the Fisking of the BBC's pitiful coverage of Danish riots.

The sound clip of the "new" creed for the Anglican Church comes from the classic TV show Not the Nine O'clock News. You can find the video to match it here.

Meryl Yourish returns to the show with another celebrity interview. You can find her must read site yourish.com.

As mentioned in the show, Evan Sayet would like you to know that if you're in Los Angeles on March 15th, he's staging a buffet and show package featuring his unique brand of conservative comedy, called Right to Laugh.

It's at the Ha Ha Cafe, 5010 Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood.

Doors open at two for food and schmoozing with the show itself, kicking off at around three. Food and the show are just thirty dollars (tickets sold at the door), with free parking in the Bank of America lot across the street.

Jonah Goldberg is the guest on Shire Network News this week. His new book, Liberal Fascism, is causing a bit of a stir among liberals who don't understand. Just don't understand is how that sentence was meant to end. There is a whole blog about the books reception set up at the National Review.

You can buy his book from Amazon.com via the following link: Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning.

This week's guest writer on Blog News is Right Wing Duck. You can sometimes find him on IMAO. Let us know what you think.

Also this week we once again hear from Evan Sayet who's got Bill and Hilary in his sights again.

Meryl Yourish is giving her liberal perspective on Fascism.

Doug Payton is considering what sort of culture bans ever reference to pigs. And Cowboy  builders. You can find background here.

This week's Winston Churchill quote is from The Gathering Storm:

Fascism was the shadow or ugly child of Communism... As Fascism sprang from Communism, so Nazism developed from Fascism. Thus were set on foot those kindred movements which were destined soon to plunge the world into even more hideous strife, which none can say has ended with their destruction.

We had a slight technical problem with this show. If you use iTunes, please ignore a previous version of the show, this one, the Director's Cut, is the correct one!

We're back and this week's interview guest is California-based filmmaker, Chris Burgard, whose documentary about the situation on the US-Mexico border is winning awards and pissing off all the right people.

His film, "Border", unleashes a haunting, inside look at what has arguably become a war zone: Rape Trees, illegal immigration, drug smuggling, sex trafficking, Mexican military incursions and more—all taking place at the United States' southern border. You can order the DVD here.

We also have a new regular contributor. Bona fide HOLLYWOOD comedian Evan Sayet will be bringing us a regular view from the US as this interminable election process grinds on. You can find his own site at evansayet.com.

We're also back with Blog News. Yeahhhh.

We absoulutely had to talk about Ezra Levant's jolly good show against the Kangaroo court in Canada. Follow his progress and watch him slay the dragon at his site: EzraLevant.com.

You can find the best up to the minute coverage of Israel at Israellycool Dave's site and the fictional statement I quote came from this post: Liveblogging the Latest - Thursday January 17th

Mellanie Phillips mentions Hillary in her blog at the Spectator site: Hillary's gender bender.

This week Meryl Yourish is talking about Sderot.

Damian Penny is covering the left's response to Ezra Levant.

The final quote from Winston Churchill can be found in his book, The Gathering Storm. In his conclusion to a paper describing the necessity of laying mines in neutral Norwegian waters to prevent Sweedish Iron ore reaching Germany during the winter of 39/40:

The letter of the law must not in supreme emergency obstruct those who are charged with its protection and enforcement. It would not be right or rational that the aggressor Power should gain one set of advantages by tearing up all laws, and another set by sheltering behind the innate respect for law of its opponents. Humanity, rather than legality must be our guide.

We've not really got Blog News this week so not much to link to. I do mention a new Egyption Coptic site, www.sonsofapesandpigs.org and we have a song at the end of a show that has a rather good video. Go and look at it: The Nose on your Face.

Tom used some spoof tube announcements from Emma Clarke. Go to her site to hear more and check out her hilarious spoof sat nav voice overs.

We will try our very best to be more regular next year. Honest.

You can find Meryl's blog here and Damian Penny posts here.

In the meantime thank you all for listening and for commenting and supporting us all year. We do it all for you and believe me, this is not a simple undertaking. I'm not complaining though, one comment saying we've opened someone's eyes is enough to cheer us all up for a week.

Shire Network News, the Anglosphere's premier anti-Jihadi podcast is back, and this week we ask Hollywood comedian and political commentator Evan Sayet when tinseltown's conservatives are finally going to stage a parade down Rodeo Drive. He says April or May. This should prove interesting. Will any of them eat lunch in that town again? Stay tuned.

We'll also hear from Meryl Yourish what she thinks of the Great Teddy Bear Incident of 2007.

There's also plenty of Blog News, featuring rioting Islamist maniacs. Yeah, that's basically it really. Rioting Jihadis. Again. Same old same old. You know the drill by now, alleged insult, lunacy in the streets, what did we do wrong, acknowledge great respect faith of Islam, deepest apologies, wish to assure your excellency incident never be repeated, please accept more aid money, blah blah blah...

Well, we also bash the BBC, itself a long-established tradition, sideswipe "The View", say something positive about Ann Coulter (for once!), agree with Scrappleface about the inanity of the US primary "debates", and host an address to the struggling workers, peasants and intellectuals of Australia from Chairman Rudd. All hail the glorious People's Revolution comrades! Struggle with steadfast determination to fulfil the nation's destiny as a haven of peace and democracy in the face of imperialistic plots from the running dog lackeys of US capitalist hegemonic jcvajfhfhfdys*$#HH35v &5$%$)))))))

Sorry, must have fallen asleep and gone face down onto the keyboard again. Listening to one of Kevin Rudd's marathon press conferences will do that.

Podcast opens the floor to Little Green Footballs's Charles Johnson

edit Tom Paine, Brian of London and others 2007-11-12 12:57 UTC 22 comments  ·  ·  ·  ·

This week we speak to Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs about the whole giant argument going on within the anti-Jihad movement over cooperation with certain political groups in Europe. Last week we spoke to Filip Dewinter (which you can find here) from the Belgian Political Party, Vlamms Belang. This week we speak to Charles about why he has been raising concerns about the anti-Jihad movment working with certain European groups.

Update: Welcome LGF Lizards.... we've had to take off line some of our older episodes temporarily (before 104) but they will be back up soon! Feel free to download older episodes and subscribe to the iTunes feed to get all future episodes.

Update: iTunes trouble. If you're still having trouble with iTunes try the following. In the Podcast section of iTunes, delete the most recent episode (the one that gives you an error when you try to download it). Click on the little grey triangle to collapse the list of all the shows and then click again to open it WHILE HOLDING the OPTION (for Mac) or SHIFT (for PC) key. You should then be able to get the latest episode.

As ever we have a packed show for you, and this week something arrived in the mail from a group calling themselves "Weapon of Musical Defense". It's a song called Best Nation about the UN's acceptance of the Cairo Declaration of Human Rights in Islam. We liked it. A lot. Tell us what you think when we play the song toward the end of the show.

For any who are interested, the Metalized version of Hatikva (the Israeli anthem) is by "Gods of Fire" and they did it for the pod-faded The View from Here.

Meryl Yourish has a fine piece looking at the British Muslims who are despicably trying to relate their experiences in modern Britain with the Jews of Germany in the 1930's.

In blog news this week we look at the Daily Mail's amazing interview with old blog favourite, Rage Boy. They don't think there is anything wrong with Muslim men aiming to marry non-Muslim women to convert them to Islam.

We are aware that there is a little animosity between Charles Johnson and Paul Belien at Brussels journal but that is no reason to overlook some great work. This piece on how Hitler felt about Mohammedanism is a fine piece.

And we couldn't pass up this piece on banning camel beauty contests from LGF as our weird Fatwa of the week.

Technical note: I've increased the file size this week because the song we play sounded so good, I felt it needed the extra bandwidth. I beg your forgiveness if it takes a little longer to download this week's show.

Podcast looks at the second draft of the Al-Durrah film

edit Tom Paine, Brian of London and others 2007-10-03 00:46 UTC 1  comment  ·  ·  ·  ·

The show this week is anchored from Melbourne rather than London, in yet another sign that those uppity colonials think they're just as good as the Mother Country. Hmph!

"Brian of London" has the week off to do something nefarious, which he will tell us all about in due course. In the meantime, Shire Network News senior French judicial correspondent "Tom Paine" speaks to blogger and media analyst Richard Landes, about the latest developments in the Mohammed Al-Durrah case.

The photograph and film of a Palestinian boy apparently being shot dead in his father's arms by Israeli troops was used to fan the flames of hatred around the world, but was it real or staged? Why won't the French TV channel release the raw footage? Listen to Richard Landes and find out why this is such a critical test of media accountability.

In Blog News, we find ourselves sceptical about the message on the side of a London double-decker bus; cynical about the reasons why Iran's president insists there are no homosexuals in his country, at least not after treatment like this; and just plain depressed at the United Nations deciding to offer the repressed Burmese people all assistance short of actual help.

For blogger coverage of the major non-humorous events currently underway in Burma go here.

Remember the last Star Trek series, "Enterprise" with it's Temporal Cold War, in which history itself was a battlefield to be altered at will by the competing factions? Bad news, it's actually happening in Britain. Turns out you don't need a time machine to change the past. Just a publisher and a large, Orwellian-sounding government bureacracy.

Meryl Yourish is here to take a look at Feminism's impact in the Muslim world, as is Doug Payton, who enthusiastically agrees with Presedential candidate John Edwards, al least in his self-assesment that he (John Edwards) is not God.
