In the Full of Crap Report this week, Laurence Simon imagines Palestinian terrorism if it were run more like professional sports in America.
And Meryl Yourish, in “On Second Thought” engages in less than fruitful dialogue with the Iranian President. Perhaps it’s that whole calling him “Gorilla Boy” thing, just my $0.02.
Canadian blogger Damian Penny is as ticked off by conspiracy theorists as ever, from the Da Vinci Code to “Loose Change”.
Additional material in this podcast was written by humour-blogger Rightwing Duck, from IMAO. This is possibly the most open attempt to steal a writer away from one podcast to a rival in the entire history of polical humour podcasting (at least seven months at last count).
The feature interview this week is with Lance Dutson, from Maine Web Report, who started asking questions about the Maine Tourism Commission’s web strategy, and the level of hi-jinks that ensued you just would not believe! In the end, it was advantage: Blogosphere! So that’s all right then.
In Blog News, the funniness or non-funnines of Stephen Colbert’s speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner is debated. The left are hailing him as a genius. Shrines to his speaking-truthiness-to-power are appearing on the internet.
A British Liberal Democrat MEP tells a supporter of Israel to wallow in his own filth. Uh, if I were a Lib-Dem MP, I really wouldn’t go there, given recent revalations about certain people’s private lives. The Grauniad, as ever, excuses the racism on the grounds that it’s aimed at those filthy money grubbing Hebes and they deserve whatever they get.
Seeing as everyone from James Lileks to Iowahawk are doing it, I have my own version of Gorilla Boy’s letter to President Bush. Turns out it’s not quite the cry for peace some people would like to think it is.
Danish authorities are investigating a firebombing attempt and death threats against city councillors signed “Allah is great” and “Al Qaeda Network”. They have no clue what could be behind them. Stumped. Nothing to go on. They’re drawing a blank. It’s believed an Inspector Clouseau is on the case, and is more likely to solve it than Danish detectives.
Dutch MP and staunch fighter against Islamism, Ayaan Hirsi Ali was given the American Jewish Committee’s moral courage award on May 4. Also honoured with the award was Bangladeshi journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, who spent 17 months in prison for advocating interfaith understanding, trying to travel to Israel, and warning about terrorism. We hear an excerpt from her acceptance speech.
Egyptian Blogger Alaa Abdel Fatah has been arrested, and there are currently ten other bloggers in prison in the country. Campaigns to help him and the other bloggers have been launched, including one which has a form you can fill in that will send a letter of protest to the right people. Sandmonkey has the details. Mental Acrobatics suggest a reworking of “When Israel Was in Egypt’s Land” which sends me off on a Paul Robeson tangent for some reason.
