Usually we have a Full of Crap Report from Houston based humor-blogger Laurence Simon but he’s missing under bizzare circumstances. More information as we invent it.
Meryl Yourish, in "On Second Thought" shows us why cartoons truly are the basis for all genuine political analysis in the modern world. And Andrew Ian Dodge, in the London Report, likens London Mayor “Red Ken” Livingstone to Capone and says it doesn’t matter how he’s taken out, only that it happens.
And stepping up to the plate for the first time in the Podcaster League is rookie Damian Penny, from Newfoundland’s Damiannation blog, on why you ought to rely on a guy with a massive coke habit and Heidi Fleiss on speed dial for your political information. Remember – “Hot Shots Part Deux” is this generation’s “Citizen Kane”.
The feature interview this week is with Dave from Israellycool. It’s a blog, it’s a podcast, it’s a dessert topping! He talks about the Israeli election result, which has apparently filled him with ennui. He’s by no means the only one unhappy at the less than decisive final tally.
In Blog News, British socialist warbler Billy Bragg has released a protest folk song about the death of Rachel Corrie. This is not a drill. Move quickly to the nearest shelter. Cover your ears at all costs. Some of you may be tempted to stab your eardrums with knitting needles. This is normal. If you are insane or a complete masochist or you just think alternate history is fun, by all means dowload the song from the Grauniad (where else?). Then listen to it and find your will to live slip away.
Borders and Waldenbooks show how much they are prepared to stand up against intimidation by religious extremists wanting to dictate what Americans can or cannot read. Oh, this involves Muslims rather than Christians? My bad, yes well of course in that case we surrender. Here, look, we’re waving white flags and everything. A spokesman says they support free speech, it’s just that they have no intention of actually backing that up in any way.
The venerable old Times, god bless her and all who sail in her (“There are some people at the door Sir. Three newspaper reporters, and a gentleman from The Times”) now has some of it’s staff blogging. One of them is religion reporter Ruth Gledhill, who bucks the modern trend by telling the Church of England to blow their boycott of Israel out their arse. And points people to the latest blood-curdling jihadi video. Which I naturally cannot refrain from mocking.
God bless actors like Richard Belzer with their awesome powers of newspaper reading which grant them such deeper insight into the war than people who are, you know, actually there. But he supports the troops! The stupid, uneducated, stump-toothed knuckle-dragging neanderthal troops, god bless their ignorant, violent hearts.
Apparently if you speak English in front of him, Jacques Chirac and his ministers will walk out of the room. This is useful information, pass it on to the State Department, I know how we can win the next UN debate! Wizbang blog wants to know what the reaction would be if Bush behaved this childishly in public.
Keshertalk points us to a great video at Expose The Left of Donald Rumsfeld's latest press conference, in which some newbie asks him a snotty question, one of the premises being that Maureen Dowd knows what's going on in Washington. By the end of it, all they could do was hose what remained of the poor lad off the walls. Clearly he was unfamiliar with "The 1000 Fighting Styles of Rumsfeld"!Do stick around after the final sign off. There’s a sting in the tail, aimed at Billy Bragg.
